PleasantWeather was founded in 1998 in Pleasant Ridge, Mich. It moved to Huntington Woods in 2000. The site is designed on an Apple Powerbook using Dreamweaver 8®. Graphics are created in Photoshop® (and ImageReady) with assistance from Extensis PhotoTools. Weather data is collected on a Wireless Vantage Pro from Davis Instruments. Data are processed by Virtual Weather Station software from Ambient running on a Dell OptiPlex with Windows 2000 Professional. Satellite and radar images are optimized on an Apple OS X Server. PleasantWeather supports open-source development by using tools such as ImageMagick, Gifsicle and MySQL. Hamweather provides access to National Weather Service data. Web hosting by LunarPages.
